Towards Emergency Scenarios: An Integrated Decision-making Framework of Multi-lane Platoon Reorganization

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

To enhance the ability for vehicle platoons to respond to emergency scenarios, a platoon distribution reorganization decision-making framework is proposed. This framework contains platoon distribution layer, vehicle cooperative decision-making layer and vehicle planning and control layer. Firstly, a reinforcement-learning-based platoon distribution model is presented, where a risk potential field is established to quantitatively assess driving risks, and a reward function tailored to the platoon reorganization process is constructed. Then, a coalition-game-based vehicle cooperative decision-making model is put forward, modeling the cooperative relationships among vehicles through dividing coalitions and generating the optimal decision results for each vehicle. Additionally, a novel graph-theory-based Platoon Disposition Index (PDI) is incorporated into the game reward function to measure the platoon's distribution state during the reorganization process, in order to accelerating the reorganization process. Finally, the validation of the proposed framework is conducted in two high-risk scenarios under random traffic flows. The results show that, compared to the baseline models, the proposed method can significantly reduce the collision rate and improve driving efficiency. Moreover, the model with PDI can significantly decrease the platoon formation reorganization time and improve the reorganization efficiency.

LLM-PySC2: Starcraft II learning environment for Large Language Models

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

This paper introduces a new environment LLM-PySC2 (the Large Language Model StarCraft II Learning Environment), a platform derived from DeepMind's StarCraft II Learning Environment that serves to develop Large Language Models (LLMs) based decision-making methodologies. This environment is the first to offer the complete StarCraft II action space, multi-modal observation interfaces, and a structured game knowledge database, which are seamlessly connected with various LLMs to facilitate the research of LLMs-based decision-making. To further support multi-agent research, we developed an LLM collaborative framework that supports multi-agent concurrent queries and multi-agent communication. In our experiments, the LLM-PySC2 environment is adapted to be compatible with the StarCraft Multi-Agent Challenge (SMAC) task group and provided eight new scenarios focused on macro-decision abilities. We evaluated nine mainstream LLMs in the experiments, and results show that sufficient parameters are necessary for LLMs to make decisions, but improving reasoning ability does not directly lead to better decision-making outcomes. Our findings further indicate the importance of enabling large models to learn autonomously in the deployment environment through parameter training or train-free learning techniques. Ultimately, we expect that the LLM-PySC2 environment can promote research on learning methods for LLMs, helping LLM-based methods better adapt to task scenarios.

Combined Compromise for Ideal Solution (CoCoFISo): a multi-criteria decision-making based on the CoCoSo method algorithm

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Each decision-making tool should be tested and validated in real case studies to be practical and fit to global problems. The application of multi-criteria decision-making methods (MCDM) is currently a trend to rank alternatives. In the literature, there are several multi-criteria decision-making methods according to their classification. During our experimentation on the Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) method, we encountered its limits for real cases. The authors examined the applicability of the CoCoFISo method (improved version of combined compromise solution), by a real case study in a university campus and compared the obtained results to other MCDMs such as Preference Ranking Organisation Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE), Weighted Sum Method (WSM) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Our research finding indicates that CoCoSo is an applied method that has been developed to solve complex multi variable assessment problems, while CoCoFISo can improve the shortages observed in CoCoSo and deliver stable outcomes compared to other developed tools. The findings imply that application of CoCoFISo is suggested to decision makers, experts and researchers while they are facing practical challenges and sensitive questions regarding the utilization of a reliable decision-making method. Unlike many prior studies, the current version of CoCoSo is unique, original and is presented for the first time. Its performance was approved using several strategies and examinations.

Adaptive Decision-Making for Autonomous Vehicles: A Learning-Enhanced Game-Theoretic Approach in Interactive Environments

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

This paper proposes an adaptive behavioral decision-making method for autonomous vehicles (AVs) focusing on complex merging scenarios. Leveraging principles from non-cooperative game theory, we develop a vehicle interaction behavior model that defines key traffic elements and integrates a multifactorial reward function. Maximum entropy inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) is employed for behavior model parameter optimization. Optimal matching parameters can be obtained using the interaction behavior feature vector and the behavior probabilities output by the vehicle interaction model. Further, a behavioral decision-making method adapted to dynamic environments is proposed. By establishing a mapping model between multiple environmental variables and model parameters, it enables parameters online learning and recognition, and achieves to output interactive behavior probabilities of AVs. Quantitative analysis employing naturalistic driving datasets (highD and exiD) and real-vehicle test data validates the model's high consistency with human decision-making. In 188 tested interaction scenarios, the average human-like similarity rate is 81.73%, with a notable 83.12% in the highD dataset. Furthermore, in 145 dynamic interactions, the method matches human decisions at 77.12%, with 6913 consistence instances. Moreover, in real-vehicle tests, a 72.73% similarity with 0% safety violations are obtained. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method in enabling AVs to make informed adaptive behavior decisions in interactive environments.

On Kenn's Rule of Combination Applied to Breast Cancer Precision Therapy

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

TECHNICAL NOTE - TN-2023-02-28, FEBRUARY 2023. 1 Abstract This short technical note points out an erroneous claim about a new rule of combination of basic belief assignments presented recently by Kenn et al. in [1], referred as Kenn's rule of combination (or just as KRC for short). We prove thanks a very simple counter-example that Kenn's rule is not associative. Consequently, the results of the method proposed by Kenn et al. highly depends on the ad-hoc sequential order chosen for the fusion process as proposed by the authors. This serious problem casts in doubt the interest of this method and its real ability to provide trustful results and to make good decisions to help for precise breast cancer therapy. Recently a paper devoted to the Breast Cancer Precision Therapy by Kenn et al. [1] attracted our attention for two main reasons: 1) this application of information fusion is very interesting and important; 2) Kenn's et al. method is based on a new rule of combination of basic belief assignments (BBAs).

Manipulation of individual judgments in the quantitative pairwise comparisons method

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Entities very often are referred to as alternatives, while the final result is in the form of a ranking. The first mention of pairwise comparison as a systematic ranking method comes from the 13th century and is attributed to Ramon Llull [7]. Lull proposed a procedure for selecting candidates based on comparing them in pairs. This technique might be viewed as in between the electoral system and a decisionmaking method in the modern sense. In later times, pairwise comparisons were used in the context of social choice and welfare theories [33, 25, 15], psychometric measurements [41, 16, 42] and decision-making methods [27]. In 1977, Saaty published his seminal paper introducing a new decision-making method: the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) [34]. AHP is based on the quantitative pairwise comparison of alternatives. As a result, each of the considered entities is assigned a weight that determines its importance.

Intelligent decision-making method of TBM operating parameters based on multiple constraints and objective optimization

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

The decision-making of TBM operating parameters has an important guiding significance for TBM safe and efficient construction, and it has been one of the research hotpots in the field of TBM tunneling. For this purpose, this paper introduces rock-breaking rules into machine learning method, and a rock-machine mapping dual-driven by physical-rule and data-mining is established with high accuracy. This dual-driven mappings are subsequently used as objective function and constraints to build a decision-making method for TBM operating parameters. By searching the revolution per minute and penetration corresponding to the extremum of the objective function subject to the constraints, the optimal operating parameters can be obtained. This method is verified in the field of the Second Water Source Channel of Hangzhou, China, resulting in the average penetration rate increased by 11.3%, and the total cost decreased by 10.0%, which proves the practicability and effectiveness of the developed decision-making model.

A integrating critic-waspas group decision making method under interval-valued q-rung orthogonal fuzzy enviroment

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

This paper provides a new tool for multi-attribute multi-objective group decision-making with unknown weights and attributes' weights. An interval-valued generalized orthogonal fuzzy group decision-making method is proposed based on the Yager operator and CRITIC-WASPAS method with unknown weights. The method integrates Yager operator, CRITIC, WASPAS, and interval value generalized orthogonal fuzzy group. Its merits lie in allowing decision-makers greater freedom, avoiding bias due to decision-makers' weight, and yielding accurate evaluation. The research includes: expanding the interval value generalized distance measurement method for comparison and application of similarity measurement and decision-making methods; developing a new scoring function for comparing the size of interval value generalized orthogonal fuzzy numbers, and further existing researches. The proposed interval-valued Yager weighted average operator (IVq-ROFYWA) and Yager weighted geometric average operator (IVq-ROFYWG) are used for information aggregation. The CRITIC-WASPAS combines the advantages of CRITIC and WASPAS, which not only work in the single decision but also serve as the basis of the group decision. The in-depth study of the decision-maker's weight matrix overcomes the shortcomings of taking the decision as a whole, and weighs the decision-maker's information aggregation. Finally, the group decision algorithm is used for hypertension risk management. The results are consistent with decision-makers' opinions. Practice and case analysis have proved the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. At the same time, it is compared with other operators and decision-making methods, which proves the method effective and feasible.

Interval-valued q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Choquet Integral Operators and Its Application in Group Decision Making

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

It is more flexible for decision makers to evaluate by interval-valued q-rung orthopair fuzzy set (IVq-ROFS),which offers fuzzy decision-making more applicational space. Meanwhile, Choquet integralses non-additive set function (fuzzy measure) to describe the interaction between attributes directly. In particular, there are a large number of practical issues that have relevance between attributes. Therefore, this paper proposes the correlation operator and group decision-making method based on the interval-valued q-rung orthopair fuzzy set Choquet integral.First,interval-valued q-rung orthopair fuzzy Choquet integral average operator (IVq-ROFCA) and interval-valued q-rung orthopair fuzzy Choquet integral geometric operator (IVq-ROFCG) are inves-tigated,and their basic properties are proved.Furthermore, several operators based on IVq-ROFCA and IVq-ROFCG are developed. Then, a group decision-making method based on IVq-ROFCA is developed, which can solve the decision making problems with interaction between attributes. Finally, through the implementation of the warning management system for hypertension,it is shown that the operator and group decision-making method proposed in this paper can handle complex decision-making cases in reality, and the decision result is consistent with the doctor's diagnosis result. Moreover, the comparison with the results of other operators shows that the proposed operators and group decision-making method are correct and effective, and the decision result will not be affected by the change of q value.
